Dr. Małgorzata Korzeniowska from the Department of Functional Food Products Development at Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences, Poland, will visit Iowa State University as part of the European Union’s Erasmus+ Mobility Program.
During her visit, Dr. Korzeniowska will deliver a seminar highlighting her research and expertise. The presentation will be followed by an opportunity for attendees to engage in discussion and interact with the speaker.
The seminar will take place on Monday, June 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the CCUR Theater (1951 Food Science).
Biobrief:
Dr. Malgorzata Korzeniowska is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Functional Food Products Development since 2021 at the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Poland. Her scientific interests focus on oxidation of meat ingredients, i.e. lipids and proteins, natural antioxidants in animal muscle tissues, fermentation-induced valorization of side streams, and application of by-products in the food industry to create innovative meat products with special regard to their sensory properties and consumer acceptance. Dr. Korzeniowska is a member of leading research “Dro-Power” and “Plant4Food” at her university. She is also a Leader and principal investigator of many national and international project groups such as: Horyzont 2020-FACCE SURPLUS PROWASTE, SEASONED, FERBLEND, ALPHORN, Opus. She was a principal investigator of the international project EATMOT on eating motivations. Her recent publications include Utilizing Apple Pomace in Meat Products; Influence Of Plant-Based Components On The Physicochemical And Organoleptic Properties Of Meat Product, and Efficient Recovery of Biologically Active Substances from Currant Pomace—Pre-Drying Effects on Supercritical CO2 Extracts. She has strong co-operation with food industries in meat and egg processing, product quality evaluations, and food industry side streams valorization.
