The Forum on Education Abroad recently released findings from their 2025 survey of education abroad alumni. The report explores how studying abroad influences career paths, helps students build career-ready competencies, and contributes to their success throughout their careers.
One of the conclusions from the survey is that "studying abroad builds competencies employers need." Respondents were asked to self-report which competencies they developed as a result of their study abroad experiences.
The top skills reported were adaptability (85.4%), communication & interpersonal skills (85.2%) and intercultural communication (83.0%).
