The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations recently released a video based on a study by Iowa State University students in the Dean's Global Agriculture and Food Leadership Program. In 2024, Allyson Aves, Rachel Currant, Irene Nielsen, and Sophia Parker completed a research paper, "Pathways to Resilience: Camel-Centered Strategies for Enhancing Nutrition for Women and Children in the Karamoja-Region of Uganda," during their program with FAO in Rome, Italy. The received mentorship from ISU faculty and staff including Dr. Amani Elobeid, Dr. Ebby Luvaga, Dr. Carmen Bain, and Shelley Taylor.
This video aligns with two key themes for FAO: the International Year of Camelids in 2024 and the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists in 2026.
