The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Office for Global Engagement and Center for Sustainable Rural Livelihoods welcomed several international visitors to Iowa State University in October, coinciding with the Global Youth Institute, Borlaug Dialogue, and other World Food Prize events in Des Moines.
Among the guests were John Paul Ngolobe, a high school teacher from Uganda, and Anna Papaevangelou, a high school principal from Greece. Both visitors share a strong interest in the World Food Prize Youth Institutes and in creating opportunities for youth engagement in global food security.
The CALS Office for Global Engagement hosted a variety of educational and cultural experiences for the visitors in addition to World Food Prize events. Highlights included a tour of the Gilbert High School Agriculture Program, a visit to the North Scott Regional Innovation Center in Eastern Iowa, a Jack Trice Stadium tour, and attending a recording of Market to Market, Iowa PBS's agricultural show.
