September 8-22, 2024, Dr. Ebby Luvaga and Madeline Schultz, department of economics, will host a group of six professional women from Serbia. They will be participating in a two-week USDA/FAS Cochran Fellowship Program focusing on fresh produce, food production, entrepreneurship, and women in agriculture. The program will start in Washington D.C., continue at the Southern Innovations Fresh Produce Conference in Nashville, TN and wrap up with activities at Iowa State University, farms, and industry visits in Iowa.
The women from Serbia have backgrounds in agriculture, policy, business, science, communication, and marketing. They will develop a plan of action to implement new ideas and innovations learned during their visit in the U.S. into their individual work, and the overall Serbian agricultural sector.
The primary goals of the Cochran Fellowship Program are to aid in the development of agricultural systems in middle-income countries, emerging markets, and emerging democracies, as well as strengthen and enhance trade linkages between those countries and the United States.
