Vet Med One Health Study Abroad in Uganda

This spring, veterinary medicine students traveled to the Mpirigiti Rural Training Center in Kamuli, Uganda with Dr. Radford Davis as part of the Vet Med One Health study abroad program. This program focused on one health – the overlap of humans, animals, and the environment on health within the Kamuli District, Uganda. One of the main efforts on this trip was taking equipment to setup a basic parasitology laboratory at the ISU-Uganda Program, Mpirigiti Rural Training Centre (MRTC). They also visited farms to collect fecal samples on animals for parasite analysis and made recommendations on deworming and zoonotic concerns.
