2024 IFAA Midwest Farm Interns Winter Seminar

The CALS Office for Global Engagement recently welcomed participants from the 2024 Midwest Farm Interns Winter Seminar to Iowa State University. The interns are participating in an exchange program with the International Farmers Aid Association (IFAA), a 12-month program where young farmers from around the world travel to the US and are hosted by various farms to learn about American agriculture, culture, and customs.

In Ames, the interns toured the ISU Meat Lab, ISU College of Veterinary Medicine, BioCentury Research Farm, Ag 450 Farm, Kent Feed Mill, and Lincolnway Energy. They also met with representatives from the Iowa State University Graduate College and CALS Office for Global Engagement to learn more about Iowa State University. The program continued in Waterloo for a visit to the John Deer Tractor & Engine Museum, concluding a few days later in Minnesota with a visit to the Mall of America.

Participants included: Gustavo Henrique Andrade da Silva, Milenna Azevedo Pertile, and Alan Christy Ferreira Preste (IFAA interns) and Julia Ezawa (IFAA Staff Member)

Special thanks to Melissia Law (CALS Office for Global Engagement) for coordinating this program.
