As mentioned by the Biden administration in an October announcement, the Department of Homeland Security now requires ALL non-immigrants and non-US citizens to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 when entering the US via land ports of entry at the Mexican and Canadian borders and through ferry terminals. This new requirement took effect January 22. Prior to that date, only non-essential travelers were subject to this requirement. Unlike travelers entering the US by air, those entering via land and ferry crossings will NOT be required to show a negative COVID test result at the border in addition to documentation of their fully vaccinated status. Please see the DHS Fact Sheet for more information about considerations for travelers entering the US via land and ferry border crossings. The DHS warns that border crossing wait times are likely to increase as a result of this new requirement.
