International Experiences for Graduating Seniors
Our office would like to congratulate graduating seniors Riley Wilgenbusch, Emmaline Putnam, Justin Swanton, Luke Sloterdyk and Heidi Fichter Mandt on being selected for the Iowa State University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences CALS Council Senior Awards. Each recipient participated in an array of international opportunities during their time at Iowa State University.
Outstanding Senior: Riley Wilgenbusch (agronomy, global resource systems) participated in the Dean’s Global Agriculture and Food Leadership Program in Rome and completed a global resource systems internship in Uganda.
Commitment to Diversity: Emmaline Putnam (global resource systems) participated in the Exploring Peru: Natural Resources & Local Communities study abroad program and spent a semester in Rome at John Cabot University.
Leadership Excellence: Justin Swanton (animal science, ag and life sciences education) participated in the United Kingdom (UK) Heritage Livestock program.
Academic Achievement: Luke Sloterdyk (global resource systems, environmental science) completed a virtual international internship with Blessman International with work focused on food insecurity and international development in South Africa. Luke was also a recipient of the Gilman Scholarship and has been recording “Cyclone’s Abroad” vlogs to share his virtual internship experiences with others, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2SgfVV8H6z59WhBYCKkrCQ.
Outstanding Ambassador of Agriculture and Life Sciences: Heidi Fichter Mandt (ag and life sciences education, global resource systems) participated in many international opportunities, which included Agricultural Production, Business, and Trade in Australia, a semester at the American Farm School, Perrotis College in Thessaloniki, Greece, Business Development Study Trip In Brazil and completed a global resource systems internship with Cargill in China.
